The daily grind of an NBA season can often times be a rigorous one for the players to endure, given the amount of games played and the extensive travel involved throughout the process.

However, Charlotte Hornets rookie guard Malik Monk sees the season through a different lens, as he stated that NBA life is quite boring during an interview with CBS Sports' Flagrant Two podcast.

“It's boring. Boring is good, though. You fly here, you get to the hotel, don't do nothing until game time. I'm in my hotel room watching highlights, watching movies, stuff like that. It's just boring. But in the summertime it's fun because you get to do other stuff and you got a little bit of money, you can vacation, go to places. In season is boring, but that's good, so you won't be out getting in trouble, club life, stuff like that.”

There isn't much freedom for Monk to do much else than that during the season, as it requires a huge commitment from the players to dedicate almost the entire year. Keep in mind, he is just in his first season in the league, having to experience the type of grueling schedules that NBA teams have lined up.

The fact that Monk has stated that he isn't doing much else aside from team-related things should be an encouraging sign for the Hornets that there shouldn't be any concern about his conduct off the court. That said, this will likely lead to him finding something that could lighten things up for him.
It doesn't look like it has had much impact on his game on the court as he's averaging 7.5 points in 20.8 minutes per game and is coming off his best performance with 17 points on Wednesday night against the Denver Nuggets. His role on the team should increase as the season rolls along as he may potentially grab the starting shooting guard spot in the coming months.
