Utah Jazz fans received some bad news on Monday night when the team announced that point guard Ricky Rubio had injured his hamstring in a game against the Milwaukee Bucks. Jazz beat writer Andy Larsen broke the news via Twitter:
Ricky Rubio will not return tonight (right thigh injury)… guessing it's the hamstring injury he fought at the end of last year and caused him to miss the Houston series

This is a serious blow to the Jazz. Since coming over from the Minnesota Timberwolves, Rubio has been an integral piece to the Jazz's offense that relies on efficient ball movement.
Rubio is having a second solid season for Utah, averaging 12.9 points, 6.3 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game.
Originally considered a non-threat from distance, Rubio has added range to his shooting, thus making opponents respect his offense more. He is currently shooting 33 percent from deep on 4.2 threes per game, the most he has shot in his career.

Mitchell is a score-first guard, while Rubio prefers to swing the ball. Together, they form a dual threat that has allowed the team to maintain the 5th best assist percentage in the league per NBA Statistics.
While Rubio's injury does not doom the Jazz, it will certainly hurt their playoff chances if he is out for an extended period of time.
The Western Conference is so competitive that losing three or four games can mean dropping from the ninth seed that the team currently holds to the 12th or even 13th spot.
Hopefully, Rubio heals quickly and can continue to wow audiences with his passing ability while helping his team make a tough playoff run.
