A two-win game win “streak” is doing wonders to the confidence of the New York Knicks youngsters, including rookie guard Frank Ntilikina. The eighth-overall selection in this year’s NBA Draft even expressed his enthusiasm in making the Knicks a playoff contender right in his very first season in the NBA, per Ian Begley of ESPN, after the team defeated the Indiana Pacers on Sunday.

We don't want to be good in the future. We want to be good right now,” Ntilikina said. “We want to grow up right now. I think that's what's exciting every day. At practice every day, at the game, we want to be good right now. We just take this like a challenge and are so into it.”

Ntilikina has long ways to go to fulfill the promise the Knicks saw in him before they spend a first-round pick to get the French guard, but he’s been giving New York glimpses of what he’s capable of. Against the Pacers, Ntilikina scored the most points of his young NBA career, notching 10 markers to go with seven assists in 24 minutes.

On the season, the 19-year-old guard is averaging 9.1 points, 7.8 assists, and 3.6 steals per 36 minutes. He needs to work on his shot, however, as he is only shooting 35.9 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from beyond the arc.

The Knicks are 5-4 through their first nine games of the season but still are generally considered as a playoff outlier in the Eastern Conference.
