Throughout his illustrious NBA career, Kobe Bryant has had a number of seasons which can be considered his best. From the time he emerged as a star in the league in the early 2000s, including when he won a three-peat together with Shaquille O’Neal, to the back-to-back champion Los Angeles Lakers teams he led in 2009 and 2010, the options are aplenty if one is to choose which season Bryant was at his best.

However, the Kobe Bryant admitted recently that he thinks it was back in the 2012-13 campaign where he reached his peak. He mentioned, via Baxter Holmes of ESPN, that before he ruptured his Achilles, he was playing at the highest level as a pro.

“It's the season where I ruptured my Achilles, actually,” Bryant said. “Because I felt like I was playing the best basketball I've ever played in my entire career.”

“That was one of my favorite times, yeah. It almost killed me, but it was fun.”

Although there was a decline in his production in the following seasons after he suffered the injury, Bryant continued to be the leader of the Lakers. He eventually retired after the 2015-16 season, but not before scoring 60 points in his farewell game, which will forever be remembered by the basketball world.

With his latest comments, fans are left to wonder what could’ve been if Kobe Bryant did not get injured that year. However, the 39-year-old future Hall of Famer will surely not want it any other way, as he was still able to continue his greatness after that and found a way to even strengthen his legacy.
