Kobe Bryant hung up his sneakers for good over a year ago, but people’s memories of the legendary Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard were brought back on Monday when the team retired both his jersey numbers, No. 8 and No. 24.

From now on, no Lakers player will be allowed to sport those numbers. They will all have to choose from the 89 remaining numbers available, as the Lakers now have 11 retired jerseys.

But you know what’s No. 8 and No. 24? The seven times in his career that Kobe went 8-for-24 from the field. In fact, he is tied with Antoine Walker as the owner of the most such shooting line in a game in NBA history, according to Basketball Reference.

Bryant played for 20 years in the NBA and built a reputation for a conscienceless gunner who did not believe he was capable of missing a shot. Bryant ranks third all-time in shot attempts and is the NBA career leader in missed shots, so it’s not actually that hard to think that he had plenty of 8-for-24 games. If you research enough, you’d likely find he’s had covered almost any viable shooting lines out there.

Heck, he once went 28-for-46 for 81 points in a game as some of you might remember.
