Even in retirement, Kobe Bryant is set to make NBA history. The Los Angeles Lakers legend is set to have his No. 8 and No. 24 jerseys retired by the franchise on Dec. 18, the first time in NBA history someone will have two numbers retired by the same team.

But even with Kobe’s big day looming, he himself has no idea how the Lakers plan to handle having two numbers retired, as he revealed to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com.

MT: When the jersey goes up … is it going to be two different jerseys, or one with the number slashed? Do you know?

Kobe: I have no idea. That is a great question. I have no clue.

Since the move is completely unprecedented, it’s anyone’s guess just how the Lakers come up with having his two jersey numbers retired. Maybe instead of a slash, there’s an actual black mamba slithering in between the eight and the 24. Everything is on the table.

Whatever they come up with, it’s sure to be a special night for Bryant, who has more than earned the distinct honor the Lakers are about to bestow upon him after a glittering 20-year career, all of which he spent with the franchise.
