The Los Angeles Lakers have gone through some drastic changes over the last few months. The team's front office has been revamped with Magic Johnson now the president of basketball operations and former agent Rob Pelinka taking over as general manager.

With the Lakers now having Johnson and Pelinka calling the shots in Los Angeles, the team is now looking for a director of player development who will be a special assistant to the new dynamic front office duo.

According to Brad Turner of the L.A. Times, the Lakers interviewed three candidates for the job this week.

Apparently, Corey Maggette is no longer a candidate after withdrawing from consideration for the job, via Turner.

Morris Peterson is a former player who spent the bulk of his NBA career with the Toronto Raptors followed by short stints with the then-New Orleans Hornets and Oklahoma City Thunder. Peterson hasn't played since 2011 after being waived by the then-Charlotte Bobcats after being traded by the Thunder.

Back in 2015, Peterson got his start in broadcasting joining TSN or The Sports Network in Canada. The former Michigan State star has since left the network and is considering working in an NBA team's front office.

Lester Conner, however, is from the coaching ranks. Conner played for seven different teams in his playing career with his final stop being with the Lakers in 1995. Since then, Conner has been an assistant coach in the NBA with stops including the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, and Denver Nuggets.

Peterson and Conner are the only two candidates presently following Maggette's decision to pull his name out of the running.
