Joel Embiid put on a post-move clinic at the Staples Center during a mid-November showdown with the Los Angeles Lakers, dropping a career-high 46 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, and seven blocks in a 115-109 win over the purple-and-gold.

This time around, Julius Randle made his effort count in the fourth quarter, helping his team get critical stops down the stretch and getting timely baskets at the other end to help keep pace with the talented Sixers on the road.

Head coach Luke Walton praised his big man for the effort he put in throughout the game, reaping the fruits of his labor with a key win at the Wells Fargo Center

“When he gets challenged like that, he’s pretty darn good…And, Embiid is probably as big and talented as a player as we have in our league,” said Walton, according to Serena Winters of Lakers Nation.

Walton noted Julius Randle played a trigger on his spark plug to get him motivated to go at Joel Embiid.

“Every time I pull him out he gets pissed off, so I pulled him out for a quick minute and put him back in,” said Walton. “He uses that anger pretty well, I just hope he never catches on to it.”

This performance bodes well for Randle as he is in the midst of a minutes battle among equally-talented four-men Larry Nance Jr. and Kyle Kuzma.
