As Kobe Bryant's double jersey retirement ceremony draws near, more and more of his former teammates and coaches are paying tribute to him. Many are sending their congratulatory messages or recalling fond memories they've had while working with the Los Angeles Lakers legend, just like what his former head coach did recently.
Mike Brown, who is now an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors, shared that he appreciates Bryant's honesty the most. He then added, via Mark Medina of The Mercury News, that Bryant always said things to him directly, regardless if it's something he likes or disagrees on.
“I enjoyed coaching Kobe because you always know where you stand,” Brown said. “He’s a lone wolf. I never had to worry about hearing information from an agent or a buddy or a family member like that. If he didn’t like what was going on, he was going to look you in the eye and tell you. If he liked what was going on, he was going to look you in the eye and tell you. When it ever came to any dealings that I had or thoughts that I had with him, it was always just he and I. For me personally, I appreciated that.”

Their time together with the Lakers did not last long, though, as Mike Brown was eventually let go by the team.
The jersey retirement ceremony is scheduled Monday inside Staples Center, and will take place during halftime of the Lakers' game against the Golden State Warriors.
Many of the team's greats are expected to attend as the event is quite historical due to raising both jersey numbers of Kobe Bryant up the rafters beside other legends such as Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Jerry West, just to name a few.
