The Los Angeles Clippers were among the few teams which chose to boycott the season a few weeks ago after the league went up in arms over the unjust shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Clearly, the team felt strongly about the never ending social injustice in the country. Head coach Doc Rivers revealed details of their unlike any other late night team meeting that occurred during those times.

“It was almost unlike any team meeting I have ever been involved in, [as a] player or coach,” Rivers, a 58-year-old NBA lifer, told ESPN. “Because usually team meetings are about either an attitude problem, a players-not-getting-along-with-the-coach problem or your-team-sucks problem. And this had nothing to do with any of those things.

“This had to do with life. And it was really cool.”

All-Stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George reportedly led the late night meeting. It only strengthened the bond a Clippers squad that has been struggling with chemistry the entire regular season.

The meeting certainly had a huge impact on the 58-year old mentor and it showed him how close the team was because they were willing to let their walls down for each other.

“It taught me a lot,” Rivers said. “It told me that we were really a close team because we were showing vulnerabilities to each other about where we are mentally.”

The Clippers are among the favorites to win this year's NBA title. Yet, despite being so close to their ultimate goal, they were still willing to sacrifice that for a bigger cause.

This fight against injustice is obviously bigger than what they're fighting for on the court. With the way the team is taking this very seriously, it's hard to root against this squad to succeed — both on and off the court.
