Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers was left befuddled by his team’s gritty 127-119 road win over the Brooklyn Nets last Saturday, per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

#Clippers' Doc Rivers after last night's win over the #Nets – “Nothing made any sense honestly. This was a game for us tonight that we had to throw every logical thing out and just try to find five guys that can make a run.”

Whatever it was originally on Doc Rivers’ game plan, he seemed to have ditched it all together, particularly how he should have shuffled his players late in the game. Instead, he went for a five-man unit in the fourth quarter that featured mostly the team’s relievers, including energy guy Montrezl Harrell, Lou Williams, and Sindarius Thornwell. Harrell and Williams each played the entire quarter, combining for 19 points on 6-for-13 shooting from the field in the final period. Rookie Jerome Robinson also saw ample action in the fourth quarter together with another second stringer in the form of Mike Scott.

At one point in the first half, the Nets held a 15-point lead, but the Clippers pushed back hard, thanks in large part to the energy of Los Angeles’ shock troopers and Rivers’ trust on them to handle situations when the team’s back was against the wall.

The Clippers, who are now on a four-game unbeaten streak, will look to keep the good times rolling against the Atlanta Hawks Monday.
