The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday, and superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard made some franchise history in the process.
By scoring 39 points against the Pelicans, Leonard is the first Clippers player with five straight 30-point games since World B. Free did it in 1980.
It's also just the second time in Leonard's career he's scored 30-plus points in five or more consecutive games.

The Clippers improved to 30-13 on the season with the win over New Orleans. Leonard finished the game shooting 15-of-28 from the field, 1-of-4 from beyond the arc and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. He also had six rebounds, six assists, five steals and one block.
The Clippers are still playing without All-Star swingman Paul George, who is out with a hamstring injury. It's why Leonard's scoring numbers have been up lately since he has to be more aggressive with George out.
Basketball fans in Los Angeles are praying the Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers meet in the Western Conference Finals. A series with Leonard, George, LeBron James and Anthony Davis in it would be very special to watch.
The Clippers are 2-0 against the Lakers this season, and Kawhi Leonard has dominated James in the first two matchups between the two LA teams. The 2014 and 2019 Finals MVP is averaging 32.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists versus the Lakers while shooting 55.3 percent from the field, 50.0 percent from beyond the arc and 94.4 percent from the free-throw line.
