The LA Clippers dropped Game 5 to the Denver Nuggets, 111-105, despite a fantastic 36-point performance from Kawhi Leonard. The two-time NBA Finals MVP shot 12-of-24 from the field and 5-of-12 from beyond the arc, but it wasn't enough to overcome Paul Millsap and Denver's big second half.
After the game, Leonard spoke candidly with members of the media, admitting that his Clippers just went cold offensively
âThey started making shots,â Leonard said. âWe came down, really didnât run anything on the offensive end. Kind of went cold on that end. We had some good looks, it just didnât fall. They fought, they fought hard.â
Despite tying his 2020 postseason high in scoring with 36 points, Leonard was asked by one reporter if he could take his game to the next level. Needless to say, Leonard wasn't having it.

âJust trying to win the basketball game. Next question please.â
Reporter â âYou had 36 points and great defense. Do you think youâre playing at your best?â

After giving up Game 5, Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers will try to close the Nuggets out in Game 6. That'll take place Sunday morning at 10PM PST. With the Los Angeles Lakers likely to finish off the Houston Rockets on Saturday night, it'll be in the Clippers' best interests not to âplay with their food' and take care of Denver Sunday. If they give any more life to the Nuggets team that already came back from down 3-1 to the Utah Jazz, anything can happen.
