Earlier on Tuesday, the LA Clippers reportedly added to the team’s roster via a two-way signing in Amir Coffey, which was reported by our own Tomer Azarly.

The Clippers have been one of the stories of the summer for the NBA after signing Kawhi Leonard to a maximum contract then masterminding a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder for MVP candidate Paul George.

Beyond that, the team brought back a variety of its important free agents such as JaMychal Green, Ivica Zubac and Rodney McGruder – running a back a team that was one of the Golden State Warriors’ toughest outs in the playoffs in the Western Conference.

Coffey is intended to be a future piece for the veteran Clippers squad where he impressed in the team’s Summer League game against the crosstown rival Los Angeles Lakers. Coffey put up 15 points and showcased terrific energy on both ends of the court.

Clearly, his skills were enough to pique the interest of Clippers General Manager Lawrence Frank, and Coffey will join a title-contending team that’s also flush with young talent in the form of second-year guards Landry Shamet and Jerome Robinson as well as fellow rookies Mfiondu Kabengele and Terance Mann.

Coffey had a tremendous junior season with the Minnesota Golden Gophers last season, being named to the All-Big Ten Conference Team after putting up 16.6 points per game, 3.6 rebounds per game and 3.2 assists per game on a 25.6 percent usage rate per Sports Reference – showing his willingness and readiness to operate with the ball in his hands at the next level.
