The Los Angeles Clippers are entering a new franchise era as they move on from their identity as the ‘Lob City.' Competitive as their young roster seems to be, they are still lacking in star power. With that said, the Clippers are keen on acquiring disgruntled Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Jimmy Butler, with the purpose of attracting more stars to play in Los Angeles in the near future.
ESPN's renowned analyst Adrian Wojnarowski talked about the Clippers' chances of landing Butler and how it would positively affect the direction of the franchise.

The Nets and Clippers have talked with Minnesota, and Minnesota’s asking price has been so high—and I think the question for both the Clippers and Nets is this: One, does getting Butler help you get a second star, a bigger star? Does it help you—and I think this is a question more for the Clippers—does Butler lead to Kawhi Leonard? Does he potentially lead to Kevin Durant? I think Kawhi is more realistic for the Clippers than Durant but we’ll see how things play in Golden State this year and where they are.”
Jimmy Butler is one of the many superstars available through free agency come 2019. Trading assets for the four-time All-Star would be a risk considering that there would be a chance that Butler will not commit long-term to any team.
But Butler himself has reiterated that Los Angeles is one of his preferred destinations if traded. There's no doubt that the 29-year old star will test the free agency waters in 2019, but if the Clippers could pull off what the Oklahoma City Thunder did with Paul George, chances are the team can also attract superstars like Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard or Klay Thompson next year.
