Several members of the Clippers organization decided to surprise Paul George by showing up at his Fresno State jersey retirement ceremony over the weekend.
George played two seasons with the Bulldogs. Simply put, he was a monster. In his freshman year, the Palmdale native led the Western Athletic Conference in minutes played (1,176) and finished second in 3-point shooting (44.7%), steals (59) and steals per game (1.74).
As a sophomore, he averaged 16.8 points on 42.4 percent shooting from the field, 7.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.2 steals. His 90.9 percent mark from the free-throw line that season was ranked second in the WAC, as were his steals 64) and steals per game (2.2).
“This is home,” George said during Sunday's media availability at Fresno State. “This is where it all started.”
Several members of the Clippers organization started a secret group chat to come together for George's jersey retirement.
“We're out here at Fresno State, surprising PG,” Pat Patterson said in a video from the Clippers. “We started a little group chat on the side to round up a bunch of guys. We came out here to show our love and support. You already know the boy's gonna cry. It's an emotional night.”

George is currently sidelined as he recovers from shoulder surgeries, but it was clear that he was touched by this surprise.
Some feel that George may be able to make his season debut with the Clippers at some point this week. However, the team will likely be extremely cautious with their approach.
He's been practicing in full, but head coach Doc Rivers didn't have a specific plan for his return.
