Montrezl Harrell takes a lot of pride in playing for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Harrell and Patrick Beverley are the heart and soul of the Clippers because of the grit with which they play with every night.
Harrell spoke to Farbod Esnaashari of Sports Illustrated about what it truly means to play for the Clippers:
Article Continues Below“It’s a sense of honor,” Harrell said. “It’s a sense of grit, dedication, and hard work. That’s what we come and build our name off of, that’s the type of basketball we play. We look to come in everyday, and just look to work.
“The Clippers definitely mean a lot to me. It meant a lot to me then too. I came here with a fresh start, and with the opportunity to come help this team get better. It’s a tremendous opportunity, and I was glad I was able to seek it.”
Harrell has appeared in 60 games for the Clippers this season. He's averaging 18.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 58.0 percent from the field and 65.2 percent from the free throw line.
We'll see how much the Clippers “love” Harrell this summer when he enters unrestricted free agency. Most pundits believe L.A. will have to overpay to keep the energetic big man in sunny Los Angeles.
The Clippers, who are championship contenders with All-Stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George leading the charge, are 42-19 on the season. They are in second place in the Western Conference standings, trailing only the Los Angeles Lakers, the team the Clippers are 2-0 against this season.
