The Los Angeles Clippers have the third-best record in the Western Conference, but they may be aggressive at the February trade deadline.
NBA execs are convinced the Clippers are committed to making several upgrades before the trade deadline, according to Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report:
Several opposing league executives are convinced that the Clippers, despite being considered by many as the deepest and most talented team in the Western Conference, are committed to making several upgrades before the NBA's Feb. 6 trade deadline.
“They'll do something,” one Eastern Conference executive says. “Their second team is great. They're nervous about their first team. Is [Ivica] Zubac a playoff player and can [point guard Patrick] Beverley stay healthy? That's what they don't know and that's what makes them nervous.”
The Clippers have been linked to New York Knicks small forward Marcus Morris. They also checked in on what it will take to acquire Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose.
Once the playoffs start, the Clippers will go as far as Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Lou Williams can take them. LAC is already 2-0 against the Los Angeles Lakers this season, so they have proven they can hang with the best teams in the league.
However, it looks like Jerry West and Doc Rivers are eager to bolster the Clippers' roster before the stretch run.
