On the verge of becoming part of a new team and a new video game release bearing his likeness on the cover, Kyrie Irving also has a new pair of sneakers hitting the market this summer with Nike's new Kyrie 3 “Mamba Mentality” edition, which pays homage to Bruce Lee and one of his basketball heroes, Kobe Bryant.

Irving's shoes are set to release on Sept. 15 with the price tag of $120 — inspiring a mix of his admiration for Lee's martial arts heroics and Bryant's model of maniacally competitive attitude on the hardwood.

This particular edition will have the same black and yellow palette as the Kobe 5 Bruce Lee edition, also using the same scratch marks across the outer part of the upper. These sneakers will offer a hybrid mix of Irving's “KI” and Bryant's signature logo on the tongue, representing the marriage on these two Nike sneakers.

The overall design greatly borrows from the “Samurai” Kyrie 3s, including a snakeskin adorning the contour of the shoe.

This pair was produced drawing inspiration from Irving playing in those special edition Kobe 5s at the Nike Extravaganza when he was 17 years old, a pair that became his all-time favorite ever since.

“This is an honor and a blessing and I can't wait to share this with the world,” Irving said in an Instagram video earlier this month.

This collaboration crosses barriers between the past generation and new, married as one into one pair of sneakers — a pair that will surely get plenty of demand upon its release.
