Ahead of Kobe Bryant's Hall of Fame enshrinement on Saturday and in the WNBA 2021 season opener, New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu made sure to show her best Mamba Mentality move with a game-winner.
With 5.5 seconds left and the game tied at 87-all, Ionescu was able to escape her defender via a Kyle Shook hand-off and screen before launching a Kobe-like 3-pointer from the left wing. It left the Indiana Fever with little time to make a shot, allowing the liberty to take home the W in the highly anticipated season opener.
Here's a look at the play that certainly made Kobe smile from above:

What a way to honor Kobe Bryant right before the Hall of Fame induction of the Class of 2020. Even more fitting, the Liberty star has previously shared how she strives to become like Kobe and her daughter Gianna Bryant and lead by example everyday.
āI strive to lead by example and serve as a role model for young people and especially girls to pursue sportsāa platform Kobe and Gigi were passionate about. I saw the way he supported his family and his constant advocacy for womenās basketball. His encouragement and promotion of equality in sports along with his Mamba Mentality is what motivates me today,ā Sabrina Ionescu said last year.
Even more amazing, Sabrina wore a Kobe Bryant Black Mamba jersey before the opener. She certainly made the Bryants proud!
