Since being selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the second overall pick in this year's draft, there has been a tremendous level of expectations set forth on rookie point guard Lonzo Ball's shoulders.

In light of that, he has worked toward getting himself physically prepared to play his first NBA season as his father, LaVar Ball, revealed in a recent interview with ESPNLA 710 radio that his son has added more weight to his frame.

“Yes, he’s always going to gain weight, he’s only 19-years-old. He’s close to 200 pounds right now. He’s going to grow into a man he’s gonna get that Ball weight later.”

During his lone season at UCLA, Lonzo Ball was listed at being 190 pounds throughout the year, which would currently put him at being just a few more pounds over that at this point in the offseason. The added weight could bode well for the 19-year-old to better withstand the physicality and grind of an 82-game season.

There is much reason for optimism around the organization that Ball could quickly become the next face of the franchise. He put on full display his unique passing ability in the Summer League that has only further created a larger buzz around him as he heads into his rookie campaign.

Ultimately, this could all set the table for what could be an exciting season for the Lakers.
