Carmelo Anthony has long been regarded as one of the league's greatest scorers. The Los Angeles Lakers forward's latest breakthrough will only further cement this legacy of his.
Anthony has surpassed NBA legend Moses Malone on the NBA's all-time scoring list, moving to 9th overall on the list. Interestingly enough, Anthony's 9th placement means that seven of the nine best scorers in the league have worn the Lakers jersey at some point in their careers. (via Dave McMenamin)
With that 3, Carmelo Anthony has 16 points for the game and 27,411 for his career, moving past Moses Malone for No. 9 on the all-time list. That means that seven of the top nine scorers in league history have worn the purple and gold at some point of their career.

Anthony's moment came late in the third quarter of the Lakers' home game against the Memphis Grizzlies. In true Melo fashion, the forward drilled a signature hesitation pull-up three-pointer in front of the defender's face to pass Malone in the all-time list. The Lakers bench immediately gave him a standing ovation. (via NBA on ESPN)

He might be old and slow now, but Melo still has his scoring chops like it was 2012. He built a career for himself as a pure scorer coming out of college in 2003, and the now-Lakers forward immediately showed his potential with Denver and New York. However, he never quite made it in terms of team accomplishments, as he's never made it to the Finals.
Funnily enough, Melo was very nearly out of the NBA a few years ago. His refusal to play off the bench in Oklahoma City and Houston derailed his Hall of Fame career, threatening to prematurely end his career. However, once he accepted a bench role in Portland, he showed everyone he was still a valuable asset to a contending team.
Now, he's looking to help the Lakers win a title. This is Melo's best shot at winning it all in a long time, and you damn well know he's not going to let it go to waste.
