Los Angeles Lakers swingman Kyle Kuzma will miss the start of training camp as he continues to recover from a stress injury in his lower left leg.
Kuzma talked about the injury with reporters on Friday at Lakers media day.
#Lakers' Kyle Kuzma on his stress reaction injury – "At first I was disappointed because I couldn't continue with the team, but it was good that we caught what I have at the right time. It is serious, but it's not. Just gotta rehab."

Kuzma’s rehab is said to be progressing well, but it appears the Lakers are going to be cautious with their talented small forward After all, there are 82 games in the regular season, so there's no point to rush Kuzma back.

Last season for the Lakers, Kyle Kuzma averaged 18.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 45.6 percent from the field, 30.3 percent from beyond the arc and 75.2 percent from the free-throw line.
Kuzma has shown in his first two seasons in the NBA he can be a 20-point scorer. Now, the 24-year-old just has to be more consistent and efficient.
Ideally, the Lakers would like Kuzma to shoot around 35 percent from the 3-point line. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are going to command so much attention when they put their heads down and drive to the basket. Kuzma and the rest of the Lakers have to be ready to knock down open shots from the perimeter.
Kuzma was the only youngster on the Lakers who survived the Davis trade with the New Orleans Pelicans. LA is hoping Kuzma will be the third-leading scorer behind LeBron and AD in 2019-20.
