It was a terrible night for the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday as they suffered a heavy defeat against the Toronto Raptors. It was so bad that the Lakers actually set a new franchise record for the largest single-quarter deficit.
The Lakers trailed the Raptors 42-17 at the end of the first quarter last night. The 25-point deficit was the largest in team history after one quarter in the shot-clock era.

It was one of those nights for the Los Angeles. Kyle Lowry and co. started red hot straight out of the gates and amassed an insurmountable 25-point lead after just 12 minutes of play. The Lakers were in a deep hole early, and they were never able to recover.
Article Continues BelowTo make matters worse, the Raptors beat them without the services of superstar Kawhi Leonard who was sitting out due to a sore left ankle. It was the combination of Lowry (21 points, three 3-pointers, six rebounds, 15 assists, two steals, one block) and Serge Ibaka (34 points on 15-17 FG, 10 rebounds, two steals) that overpowered the hapless Lakers. Pascal Siakam (16 points, 13 rebounds) also had one of his best games of the season.
Kyle Kuzma was the Lakers' best scorer on the evening with 24 points (10-16 FG, five rebounds). LeBron James (18 points, two 3-pointers, six assists) did not have a typical LeBron James outing, while Brandon Ingram contributed 16 points and three assists in the contest.
The Lakers are now 4-6 to start the season. Their next game is scheduled on Wednesday as they hope to bounce back against the Minnesota Timberwolves and avenge their 124-120 loss against the Wolves last week.
