Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James looked like he was about to pull off Michael Jordan's infamous closed-eyes free throw on Sunday against the Detroit Pistons. Unfortunately for LeBron, it ended in disaster.
LeBron appeared to have said he was going to close his eyes as he was about to take a free throw in the dying seconds of Sunday's matchup versus the Pistons. The clip below is inconclusive but there seems to be some merit to this claim (h/t Bleacher Report on Twitter):
Did Bron say he'd shoot with his eyes closed? 👀 pic.twitter.com/uUdOTofzvK

LeBron ended up missing his free throw badly and unsurprisingly, the Lakers superstar got absolutely destroyed for it on the mean streets of Twitter. The keyboard warriors just had to bring Michael Jordan into the mix after LeBron's alleged botched attempt:

Bro can’t even make ‘em with his eyes open 😂

Other fans, however, came to the defense of the Lakers star. In this screenshot, it appears that LeBron actually had his eyes open right before the free throw:

What are your thoughts on this? Do you really think LeBron would have the audacity to close his eyes during a free throw attempt? What makes it worse is that he nearly air-balled his shot. It's a good thing that the struggling Lakers already had the game won at that point.
