The Los Angeles Lakers may be in full-blown tumult, but LeBron James still has hope for the embattled team the rest of the way.

When asked about the state of the club, James said that it still has the chance to do big things:

“We still have an opportunity to be great today, and we should take advantage,” James said ahead of the Lakers' Monday night matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers, via NBA TV.

The Lakers currently own a record of 30-33 and are falling further and further out of the Western Conference playoff picture with each passing day. Their latest loss was a disastrous 118-109 defeat to the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.

Since James came back from a groin injury at the end of January, Los Angeles has gone just 4-7 with him in the lineup, including losses to the Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Pelicans (sans Anthony Davis) and Memphis Grizzlies in addition to the Suns.

The Lakers appeared to be on the right track earlier in the season, as they improved to 20-14 after a Christmas Day win over the Golden State Warriors. However, James suffered a groin injury in the win and missed over a month.

Los Angeles went just 6-11 in James' 17-game absence, but many felt that the ship would be righted as soon as the 34-year-old returned.

Instead, things have gotten worse, as it is becoming clearly obvious that the Davis trade rumors last month severely damaged the locker room. Since then, James has called out his teammates numerous times, saying that the trade talks should not be bothering them.
