The sting of the Dallas Mavericks' decision to trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers is still being felt by countless Mavs fans. On Monday, multiple Mavericks supporters were even escorted off their seats at the American Airlines Center, after showing their true feelings about general manager Nico Harrison, considered the main architect of Doncic's shocking trade to LA.

Others have also voiced their disapproval of the trade by staging a protest outside of Dallas' home arena following Doncic's departure.

Although he's no longer with Dallas, Doncic is aware of the backlash his former team is facing. After his debut for the Lakers against the Utah Jazz on Monday at Crypto.com Arena, the 25-year-old Slovenian superstar spoke about Dallas fans' frustration.

“I saw the fans, obviously I really appreciate it,” Doncic said during the postgame press conference following the Lakers' 132-113 win over the Jazz (h/t Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News).

“I will always appreciate that, but now I think we should focus on the next step. The way Lakers fans received me here is amazing.”

It seems that Doncic has already moved on from the trade and that his focus from here on out is helping the Lakers achieve the ultimate goal in the NBA. With the Lakers, Doncic appears to have a fair shot at winning an NBA title in the same season he was traded. Los Angeles is currently on a roll, having won all of its last six games. The Lakers' 32-19 record is good for fourth overall in the Western Conference standings.

In his first official NBA game with the Lakers, Doncic provided Los Angeles with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists in 24 minutes. Although those were not his usual numbers and the fact that he shot just 5-for-14 from the floor and 1-for-7 on his 3-point attempts, Doncic still had admirable effort versus the Jazz, considering that he's still not 100 percent. That's not to mention that it was just his first game since Christmas Day.

The Mavericks, meanwhile, did not have as good of a night, as they suffered a 129-128 loss to the Sacramento Kings, dropping Dallas to 28-26 — eighth in the Western Conference standings.
