There's no denying that LeBron James and Anthony Davis just had one of, if not the most miserable season with the Los Angeles Lakers during this past year. It's also absolutely true that these two are some of the most competitive individuals you'll ever meet. Couple these two factors together and you have the perfect recipe for sleepless nights filled with regret and utter disappointment.

This is exactly what Lakers icon Magic Johnson pointed out in a recent interview with David Aldridge of The Athletic. According to Magic, he has no doubt that LeBron, AD, and even Russell Westbrook are still rueing their failed 2021-22 campaign. As a matter of fact, Johnson believes that their failures from the previous season have had a significant impact on the psyche of LA's Big 3:

“See, we, you had expectations, right? Everybody was saying the Lakers, with Russell (Westbrook), man, we’re talking about NBA Finals. We’re going to be one of the favorites,” Johnson said. “So, it’s definitely got to be driving them crazy — it should be driving all three of them crazy. Because we didn’t meet those expectations. We failed. Now it’s, what are we going to do to make sure it doesn’t happen next season?”

It was so difficult for Lakers fans to accept their team's fate this past season. Just imagine how LeBron, Davis, and Westbrook must have felt — and continue to feel up to this very day.

Right now, though, this is all water under the bridge. As Magic expressed, LeBron, AD, Russ, and the rest of the Lakers are now focused on putting this whole season behind them. What's important now is how they bounce back in 2022-23.
