After landing the biggest free agent of the summer in LeBron James, the Lakers released a new shirt design with his name and number on the back.

The Lakers have one of the most iconic jerseys in the league, and it seems like they have stuck with the basic template from last season with some minor changes.

The first shirt looks very similar to the design that the organization has been using for some time now, with the classic white numbering and purple outline.

The second shirt is more of a throwback to the days when Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.  It has blocked numbers with a solid purple interior and white outline.

This release foreshadows the release of new jersey designs, which should be officially announced in the upcoming days.

These jerseys look like they are taking inspiration from older designs, similar to the second shirt in the previous tweet.

While we have visuals of the purple and yellow color schemed jerseys, well have to wait for the future designs.  Noticeably missing is a white jersey design that the Lakers used to wear on Sunday home games before the league changed the rule that home teams must wear a lighter color than the away teams.

We should also expect a darker jersey, as the Lakers have released a form of a black jersey in the past seasons.  Last year, as their ‘NBA City Edition” jersey, the Lakers released a jet-black mamba snakeskin jersey in honor of Kobe Bryant.

Keep your eyes peeled for more NBA jersey updates as the regular season approaches.
