The $35,000 may not mean much to millionaires such as Rondo. Professional athletes often feel compelled to speak their minds and act out of sorts on their respective playing fields. However, the costs of misbehaving will always be paid no matter how much money is in your account.

For instance, take Draymond Green for the Golden State Warriors. Known for his fiery competitiveness, Green has crossed the line twice that forever changed the trajectory of the Dubs. He hit LeBron James in the private parts in Game 4 of the 2016 NBA Finals. We all know what happened next. And last year around this time, Green became embroiled in a public spat with Kevin Durant. We know what happened next, too.

The point is, athletes must still check for their behaviors to make sure it's appropriate. While they live a more privileged life than the average man, they still have consequences like the average, too. It's just their consequences that come in the public eye, and the ramifications usually are larger.

The Lakers are looking like a team priming itself for an NBA title run. At 13-2 and chemistry that's apparent, it isn't coming as a surprise. However, actions like what Rondo displayed Friday night could derail those hopes if done frequent enough, and at the wrong time. Draymond and the Warriors learned the hard way.
