With the 2018 NBA Draft officially in the books, the Los Angeles Lakers have shifted gears toward free agency. Needless to say, their prospects are looking extremely bright with reported interest from a number of star players around the league.

At the forefront of their recruitment process is undoubtedly Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James. According to Darren Heitner of Forbes, Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul is also on their radar:

It is interesting to see that Paul's name has risen to the top of the Lakers' wish list at this point in time. Most of the offseason has been spent trying to figure out a way for Los Angeles to somehow squeeze in the likes of either Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Paul George and San Antonio Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard. However, it appears Los Angeles are interested in bringing in another field general to take control of the offense.

Paul is coming off a stellar year with the Houston Rockets. As a result, him re-signing with Houston seemed like a foregone conclusion but it seems that is not the case. Paul has made it clear that intends on signing a max deal this summer. Whether or not it is with the Rockets remains to be seen.

It is no secret that the two are close friends off the court and rumors about members of the “Banana Boat” reuniting to play somewhere have been flying for years. They now have a chance to make it happen in Los Angeles this offseason.
