The trade deadline is just days away and at this point, Russell Westbrook is still part of the Los Angeles Lakers. Rumors have been swirling about a move away from Hollywood for the former league MVP, and it sounds like the word around the league is that LA is doing everything it can to try and rid themselves of Russ.
An unnamed league executive recently dropped a truth bomb on the Lakers and their attempt to trade Westbrook. According to this anonymous source, LA is determined to pull the plug on this unsuccessful experiment. However, it also appears as though no other team in the NBA has shown interest in Brodie:
“It’s obvious they’re trying to move Westbrook, which is damn-near impossible,” a league exec told Heavy.com. “They know that roster’s just not working.”

The biggest hurdle for Westbrook and the Lakers is his gargantuan deal worth a whopping $91.2 million through next season. Opposing teams are clearly unwilling to take such a massive cap hit for a 33-year-old who is seemingly past his prime.
If the above rumors are true then the Lakers will have no choice but to make the most out of their current situation. Finding a trade partner for Westbrook has become increasingly difficult and at this point, highly unlikely.
