Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has chimed in on the recent controversy involving the Los Angeles Lakers.

Cuban reflected on the recent Lakers episode which saw the resignation of Magic Johnson as president of basketball operations. After which, Johnson spilled on the ‘backstabbing' within the organization, particularly by general manager Rob Pelinka. For Cuban, he's happy that things aren't going well within the Lakers.

“The more screwed up they are, the happier I am,” Cuban told Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “But I feel that way about every other franchise not in Dallas. We all go through it. Every franchise goes through cycles, and when your down cycle hits you, it's never fun.”

Some might take Cuban's comments as harsh. But take note that back in the 2000s, the Lakers and the Mavericks were the ones battling it out in the West. Lakers legend Kobe Bryant himself has had mini-rivalry with Cuban himself. Perhaps this is what triggered Cuban's strong emotions towards the organization.

“I feel bad for Jeanie, personally, because she's a great person,” Cuban said. “I have no sympathy for the Lakers any more than they had sympathy for us.”

Indeed, Cuban's comments are pretty revealing with regard to how other teams view each other. Even in the front office, it's all about competition. Every organization has an immense craving to win.
