Now that New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis has requested a trade, the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks are preparing to make offers for AD, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

The Lakers' front office, led by Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka, had a meeting on Monday to discuss how the franchise was going to acquire Anthony Davis and pair him with LeBron James.

The Knicks are likely doing the same thing, as if they can trade for Davis, they would be set up very well during the summer once free agency starts.

Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler and Kyrie Irving can all become free agents, and if the Knicks have Davis, one of those stars might come and join AD in The Big Apple.

The Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks are preparing to make offers for New Orleans Pelicans superstar forward Anthony Davis, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Knicks have valuable trade chips in Kristaps Porzingis, rookie Kevin Knox and potentially the No. 1 overall pick in 2019.

Anthony Davis can become a free agent in the summer of 2020. The five-time All-Star is averaging 29.3 points, 13.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game this season for the Pelicans while shooting 50.8 percent from the field, 32.5 percent from beyond the arc and 81.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 7.

There is definitely more pressure on the Lakers to get Anthony Davis, as it's looking like they won't be able to get a big-time free agent in the summer.
