Heading into this season, the Orlando Magic were not projected by many to make a lot of noise in the Eastern Conference, and not even contend for a playoff spot. However, they’ve been a surprise team, as they have strung some impressive wins, helping them to have a 4-1 record for the year so far.

When asked how he feels about his team’s solid start to the campaign, Aaron Gordon said, via John Denton of Magic.com, that he is not getting too excited about it yet. He understands that it’s still early days in the season, but also knows that they have turned a lot of heads with what they’ve achieved so far.

“People aren’t going to take us lightly and if they do, we’re going to blow them out,’’ boasted Gordon. “This is just a good group with a good vibe and good energy. Everybody is playing together so well and it looks like we’re having fun, huh?’’

The 22-year-old Arizona product has been one of the brighter spots for the Magic, as he is playing at a very high level to start the year. With career-high averages so far of 23.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.0 blocks through five games, he has given the Magic a huge lift, making it possible to come out with victories against some title favorites like the Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs.

It remains to be seen if Aaron Gordon can sustain the strong start he’s had and if he can continue averaging incredible numbers as the season progresses. With the confidence he and his teammates currently have though, it will be difficult not to believe he can. If he does, the Magic could silence their doubters and also prove that teamwork, belief in one another, and a little bit of luck is more than enough to make a team be successful, despite not being considered a playoff team even before the season started.
