Only 15 games into the season, the Dallas Mavericks are already making some changes to their roster in the hopes of turning around their fortunes following their very slow start.

It has been reported that the team will sign free agent guard Antonius Cleveland to a two-way deal, and will waive Gian Clavell to make room for him, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Cleveland went undrafted in June’s draft and has since been playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G-League. He has impressed the Mavs’ coaching staff with his solid averages of 13.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals in 25.7 minutes per game, leading to his signing.

His addition will give the team a shooter which they badly need to open up the lane for slashers. The 23-year-old will still suit up for Santa Cruz to gain more experience and have additional workouts, which is part of his special contract.

With a 2-13 record to show, this may not be the last move the Mavs will have to make in order to be more successful, especially if they’ll continue to lose games.
