Dallas Mavericks rookie Dennis Smith Jr. is enjoying his time in the NBA as he is getting comfortable learning the game. However his life may turn upside down very quickly as his past may catch up to him. According to Dan Kane of the News Observer, the FBI is ready to take the next steps in looking at a 2012 scandal.

Breaking: N.C. State has released the subpoena in the FBI's investigation into college basketball. Seeks info on Dennis Smith, Mark Gottfried and coaching staff.

N.C. State has been in the news recently as the FBI is currently investigating whether or not players were paid during their time in college. Back in 2012, former ASM sports agent Andy Miller might of been giving money to his players before college or even during as Mavericks rookie Smith could be one of them.

Yahoo Sports would release documents near the end of February 2018 that showed that Alex Smith might have been giving out loans to his players. Part of the FBI's investigation will be on Smith Jr who owed $73,500 in loans he received from ASM, Miller’s company. Documents also have come out that Smith received a heavy loan for $43,500 when he still in high school at Trinity Christian.

Smith played at N.C. State back in 2016-17 season before declaring for the NBA draft. Smith did not end up going with Miller as his NBA agent, but instead hired Glenn Schwartzman of Paramount Sports and Entertainment. Players are not suppose to be paid during college at all as Smith might have some questions to answer when the season is official over come Mid April.
