Miami Heat icon Dwyane Wade doesn't know why his name is not often being mentioned when talking about the greatest two-guards of all-time, but he couldn't care less about the conversation.
Speaking to Complex, Wade highlighted the common mistake everyone makes: assuming there is only one true “GOAT” in a certain position. The Heat legend and now Utah Jazz part-owner emphasized that there are a lot of players who could make their cases for being the all-time greatest in their positions, using Kobe Bryant as an example.
“I like to look at it like this: when it comes to the greats or the GOAT conversation, our minds are triggered to see just ‘one’ at these positions. We see one Michael Jordan, and that’s our GOAT because that’s the era we grew up in – but then you have Kobe Bryant at the same position that could very well be a GOAT in his own right, but he’s behind Michael Jordan in a lot of eyes – then you have the next guy, and the next guy, etc. It’s a long list of guys to talk about,” Wade said.
“If I ever really cared about the praise of man, to get me through or make me feel good about my career, it never would’ve been what it was. History speaks for itself. I’m in history. You can’t mention basketball without mentioning me, you can’t talk about being a champion without mentioning me. I did my part and I let my resume speak for itself.”
True enough, discussing and deciding the GOAT or even the best players ever in different positions is a futile endeavor. There is just no way fans and experts alike will ever agree given the different eras players suit up and how the NBA has changed overtime.

While some might like the NBA of old where things are more physical, the improvement in the modern game has also produced more talented individuals than anyone has ever seen.
As Dwyane Wade said it, there is so many players to talk about (and often snubbed) when discussing the greatest of greatest.
With that said, and as the Heat icon noted, what is important is that he and many others have left a lasting legacy that the NBA will forever remember.
