Former United States president Barack Obama also had a message for Wade and congratulated the 13-time All-Star for making Chicago natives like him proud by showing the city's spirit of resiliency.
The league also paid tribute to Wade earlier in the season. NBA commissioner Adam Silver opted to give Wade a spot in the 2019 NBA All-Star Game where he eventually ended up with Team LeBron.
