Since he was drafted by the Miami Heat in 2003, perhaps no professional sports player has become more synonymous with South Beach than Dwyane Wade.
Wade spent all but 1 1/2 seasons with the Heat, winning three championships and making the All-Star team 13 times. He will go down as perhaps the best player in franchise history and one of the greatest shooting guards to ever play the game.
But his impact in the community speaks volumes to Wade's character. From his Wade's World Foundation to purchasing necessities for a local woman whose house burned down 10 days before Christmas and providing scholarships to numerous students, the influence Wade has had in Miami is extremely tangible.

And on Sunday, Wade was a surprise guest at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School graduation ceremony, nearly 16 months after the high school suffered a tragic mass shooting that resulted in 17 fatalities.
Wade has been a massive supporter of the Stoneman Douglas community in the wake of the Parkland shooting, and the above commercial includes a moment between the sister of one of the Parkland victims and Wade, who honored the young man by writing his name–Joaquin Oliver–on his shoes prior to a game. Oliver was buried in a Wade jersey.

Wade spoke about visiting the school in the aftermath of the shooting:

It goes without saying that Wade will continue to serve as an ambassador and role model for Miami youth in the wake of his retirement, and he will be remembered for being more than just a basketball player.
