Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra has coached his fair share of superstars in the NBA. Of course, the titanic trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh easily come to mind. But more recently, Spoelstra has also found success with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.
This season, however, things haven't been as smooth. The Heat have struggled with setbacks, including those involving Butler, Adebayo, and Kyle Lowry, leaving Spoelstra with a rag-tag unit of role players. But he has made it work, and now he's set to coach even more superstars, albeit from opposing teams as he will be at the helm for Team Durant in the upcoming NBA All-Star Game.
Spoelstra, ever the modest guy, deflected the credit when asked about it (via ESPN).

“I remember in the beginning of December when we were back in the standings, it seemed like a little bit out of reach, but guys continued to grind. It's been a unique season because of all the revolving doors, and I just really commend our group.”
The Heat, now with a healthy lineup, routed the Washington Wizards on Monday night, 121-100 to improve to 35-20 and maintain their hold of the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Heat were hardly mentioned among the favorites before the season began, which only highlights the acumen of Spoelstra, who will coach in the NBA All-Star Game for the second time. The first time he did it in 2013, the Heat won the NBA title. Just putting it out there.
