Miami Heat All-Star forward Jimmy Butler was on fire on Monday, as he led his team to a very impressive Game 1 victory over the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks. Butler has been tremendous for Miami since the start of the playoffs, and as it turns out, it has a lot to do with his shooting.

Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald details that since the Heat kicked off their playoffs run, Butler has found his stroke from both mid-range and from distance:

But on Monday, Butler was 3 of 4 on mid-range shots and 2 of 2 on threes to finish 5-of-6 on shots from outside of the paint. He’s 11 of 21 (52.4 percent) on non-paint shots in the playoffs, with the help of incredible 6-of-9 shooting on threes since the postseason began.

It is important to note that on the season, Butler is just a 28.8-percent shooter from outside the paint, so the sharp increase in his shooting has certainly been a welcome development.

On Monday, Jimmy Butler finished with a game-high 40 points on 13-of-20 shooting, along with four boards, two assists, a couple of steals, and a block in 36 minutes of action. He also made 12 out of his 13 attempts from the charity stripe to round out a very efficient evening.

Butler caught fire yet again in Game 1, and not even the newly-crowned Defensive Player of the Year winner in Giannis Antetokounmpo could do much to prevent the offensive onslaught from Butler.

One thing is clear: Jimmy Buckets showed up on Monday, and the Heat will need to him to carry on with his impressive play if they hope to pull off an upset against the mighty Bucks.
