The newest member of the Miami Heat, Victor Oladipo, was hyped in his team's 98-88 win over the New York Knicks on Monday. Oladipo was not able to suit up for that game, due to a head cold, but it seems he is much happier with his new team situation.

Although the match was a low-scoring affair and looks more fit for the early 2000s, it was still an exciting one. The Heat came out guns blazing in the second half and dropped 39 points in the third quarter. This feat is more impressive when you consider the Knicks are one of the best defensive teams in the league and play at a slow pace.

It would be interesting to see how well Oladipo fits in with the Heat roster. He will have less usage with the likes of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo around, but at the same time, the duo provides playmaking that will help him succeed. Outside shooting from Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson will open up driving lanes for Oladipo to attack the basket.

At his best Oladipo is an athletic, two-way wing, who can fill up the stat sheet for the Heat. He is a hard worker and fits in with the team's identity of toughness and grit.

The Heat are currently in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference with a 23-24 record. Should the team remain healthy the rest of the way they once again have the potential to be dark horse contenders and topple teams with much more impressive regular season records.

The Heat have been constantly plagued by injuries this season. They have failed to field the same lineup for many of their games. They haven't been able to put their preferred starting five on the floor for very many games. They also haven't been able to play with a set starting lineup for any sustained amount of time — not even for two whole weeks. This lack of instability is a central reason for their poor record, but Oladipo can give them an important lift late in the season, heading into the playoffs.
