A date has been set for the much-awaited debut of Victor Oladio for his new team, the Miami Heat, following his trade deadline move from the Houston Rockets.
According to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Oladipo is set to play his first game for Miami on Thursday against the Golden State Warriors:
Erik Spoelstra says Victor Oladipo is expected to play tomorrow vs. Warriors. Spoelstra added that Oladipo has been working out with Caron Butler at the arena.

The Heat are also scheduled for a game on Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers — Oladipo's former team — in the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indiana and this would have been an ideal time for Oladipo to make his debut. However, Miami has decided to set the homecoming/revenge game narrative aside with the two-time All-Star yet unable to shake off a non-COVID-related illness.
Article Continues BelowThe last time Oladipo took the floor was on March 21 in a contest between the Rockets and the Oklahoma City Thunder. He sat out the next two games for Houston before the team sent him over to Miami just before the deadline. In exchange, the Rockets got Kelly Olynyk, Avery Bradley, a 2022 first-round pick, and a 2022 second-round pick. With his new team, the 6-foot-4 combo guard has missed two games to date, with Wednesday's bout against the Pacers being his third game out.
Oladipo's arrival is expected to have a significant impact for the Heat. They get an excellent two-way guard in Oladipo — a former All-Defensive team member and the league's leader in steals during the 2017-18 season — who should be able to serve as a potent threat for Miami's backcourt on both ends of the floor.
