Miami Heat icon Dwyane Wade, who's playing in his last season, showed some love to his fans in New York by throwing away his game-worn shoes.
Check out the clip below posted by the Heat on Twitter. After his last game in Madison Square Garden, a 106-97 victory over the New York Knicks, Wade visited his fans who were waiting outside the arena for him. He threw his game-worn sneakers to the cheering crowd before bidding his goodbyes for one last time.

Wade is regarded as one of the best players of all time. Some say that he's the third best point guard in basketball history — right behind Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. So it's not difficult to understand why Wade has fans in New York. He's seen as a basketball icon and is respected all over the league.

Wade's retirement is not a surprise. After all, he's been in the league for 16 years and has nothing left to prove. But in a recent interview, Wade admitted that his family, especially his son, were critical factors in his decision to retire.
“Of course, we have this amazing job that has allowed our family to have everything that they have. But at some point, you don’t want to miss everything. As you get older in the sport and your kids get older, you would like to be around more. I’ve been able to go to more games this year than I have in the past and the sky is the limit from here,” Wade said, per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.
With half-a-season to go, Wade is inching closer to his desire to spend more quality time with his family. But for the time being, expect him to interact with his fans and throw his game-worn sneakers along the way.
