The Miami Heat have quietly started to pave their own path in the ever changing Eastern Conference in recent weeks. The Heat enter today sitting in 4th in the East, winners of nine out of their last ten. There have been many contributors and many reasons for the Heat climbing out of an early season lull, but none has been greater than Jimmy Butler.

Chew on these stats and digest them for just a minute.

Jimmy Butler MVP – Miami Heat Backbone

Jimmy Butler MVP, Heat

Oh by the way, Butler had 28 points and 12 rebounds in a convincing win over the Cleveland Cavaliers Tuesday night.

After missing an extended period of time earlier in the year due to Covid-19, a time in which Butler notes he lost at least 12 pounds, the Miami all-star has regained his form for the Heat and is a legitimate MVP candidate.

Now, there's a difference between candidate and front runner or odds-on favorite. Jimmy Butler is absolutely a candidate who deserves to be brought up into the mix. Look at some of Miami's numbers without him when he was gone and now that he's been consistently back. Look at the individual numbers up above in the tweet. Butler deserves to have his name brought up at the table.

He'll likely settle and be far more content with more Miami wins instead of being brought up in any MVP talks. Known as on of the top on ball defenders in the league, it's been Butler's offense that has propelled him into the conversation.

In his last seven games played, Butler's point totals are: 28, 29, 28, 27, 29, 33 and 27. Not too shabby for someone who can sometimes be overlooked when the best of the best are being discussed. It's time to take note of what Jimmy Butler has been doing for Miami this season.
