Milwaukee Bucks star and MVP candidate Giannis Antetokounmpo has been listed as doubtful for Monday's game against the Chicago Bulls, according to NBA.com‘s injury reports.

The Greek Freak is listed with right knee soreness, making this the fifth game that he is likely to miss with that same distinction.

Giannis Antetokounmpo recently spoke on his history of knee troubles in an interview with Eurohoops TV, during which he explained that the issues were a result of playing too much and that he simply needs more rest.

The 24-year-old All-Star captain is averaging career highs in points (27.2), rebounds (12.7) and assists (6.0) while shooting over 58 percent from the field.

Although Giannis has suggested that more rest may be the remedy to the lingering knee issues, his 33.2 minutes per game rank just 37th in the NBA.  It's also a reduction from each of his past three seasons when he played at least 35 minutes per night.

It is likely that Milwaukee's management will rely on giving Antetokounmpo the occasional day off for what other teams have dubbed as “load management,” with respect to star players like LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard.

Still, the Bucks could use every bit of Giannis that they can get as they lead the Raptors by just two games in the race for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

Antetokounmpo is one of the leading candidates for the league's Most Valuable Player award, and he ranks just slightly behind James Harden and Anthony Davis in terms of Player Efficiency Rating (PER), according to Basketball-Reference.
