In a relatively short period of time, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has established himself as one of the best players in today's NBA. In fact, some experts and analysts feel that he should be a favorite for this season's MVP award. And while they might be right, he isn't letting the hype go to his head:

“To be honest with you, all I care about right now is getting better, helping my team win,” Antetokounmpo told ESPN. “And [becoming the league's best player is] going to take care of itself. I know that one day it might happen. I don't know if I'm there yet, but I'm going to do whatever it takes to get there, because that's what I want to be.”

Antetokounmpo, now 24 years of age, is currently posting some of the best statistical figures of his career. In his 38 appearances with the Bucks this season, The Greek Freak has racked up averages of 26.6 points on 58.1 percent shooting from the field, 12.8 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals in 33.6 minutes per outing.

Though Antetokounmpo won't say he's the best player on his own accord, his teammates will:

“I definitely think it's our belief inside this locker room, and a lot just around the league, that we have the best player in the league right here,” Bucks center Brook Lopez said. “He does it in so many ways. He makes so many of his players better. He's all over the court constantly. It's so impressive to watch every night.”

Whether or not Antetokounmpo will earn this season's MVP award remains to be seen, but there is no doubt he'll be in the conversation. Rockets All-Star James Harden echoed these sentiments after Wednesday's 116-109 victory over the Bucks — a game in which Giannis scored 27 points and a career-high 21 rebounds:

“He's up there,” Harden said. “He's definitely [elite], just the way he impacts the game.”

Antetokounmpo and Harden will be duking it out for MVP the rest of the season.
