Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Derrick Rose did not expect to be in the All-Star consideration this season, so the former MVP planned a family vacation during the All-Star break.
If things hold up the way they are currently, Derrick Rose is going to have to cancel that vacation, as the 30-year-old Chicago native trails only Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry in All-Star votes among guards.
Rose says he's thankful for all the people who have been voting for him and that he will bring his son and daughter with him to Charlotte if he makes the All-Star team for the first time since 2012.
Rose says he's already got a vacation set up in Malibu and was really looking fwd to 7 days off. But All-Star would mean a lot to him because he could take his son and daughter with him.

Rose is currently out with a sprained right ankle he suffered against the Atlanta Hawks. He has already been ruled out for Friday's game against the Orlando Magic.
In 32 games for the Timberwolves this season, Rose is averaging 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists while shooting 48.6 percent from the field, 46.2 percent from beyond the arc and 83.8 percent from the free-throw line.
D-Rose scored a career-high 50 points on Halloween against the Utah Jazz. It was a tremendous accomplishment considering Rose has undergone four knee surgeries since winning the MVP award back in 2011 with his hometown Chicago Bulls.
It will be pretty cool if Rose makes the All-Star team this season. Rose, though, might have to pay a hefty fine to cancel his vacation, but he can probably afford the cancellation fee.
