After missing three consecutive games with right ankle soreness, Derrick Rose returned to the Minnesota Timberwolves' lineup on Saturday against the Denver Nuggets. Unfortunately for Rose, he re-aggravated his right ankle during the third quarter on a fast break layup and didn't practice on Monday.

The Timberwolves take on the Grizzlies on Tuesday and the team has already announced that Derrick Rose won't play.

Rose can't catch a break right now. The former MVP is dealing with ligament damage in his right ankle. Rose told reporters on Saturday when he lands, the pain gets a lot worse. The guard scored on a fast break layup around two defenders and came down on his right ankle hard. He didn't turn it, but the harshness of the landing was enough for Rose to experience another setback.

Rose finished with eight points and five assists versus the Nuggets in 20 minutes of action.

In 39 games this season for Minnesota, Rose is averaging 18.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists. The 30-year-old Chicago native is shooting 47.8 percent from the field, 41.1 percent from beyond the arc and 85.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The best course of action for Rose to take is to sit down for at least one week so his ankle can properly heal.
